Official Tournament Rules

Players will always act in accordance with the Players Code of Conduct

Match duration is 5 minutes:

1.       Time will run even if the puck is out of play.

2.       An audio timer will be used for all matches.

3.       A hand held timer will be used for any make-up time.

Face-offs:

1.       All matches begin with the puck placed at center ice.

2.       Centers begin on their own side of the center ice red line.

3.       All other face-offs are made by dropping the puck on the center ice circle with the centers being in the afore positions.

4.       Before dropping the puck, be sure opponent is ready.

5.       Players must drop the puck on the center ice circle and not throw or lob it.

6.       The player not dropping the puck may call for a re-drop if he/she feels the puck was dropped unfairly.

7.       Three seconds must elapse after each face off before a goal can be scored.

8.       If a goal is scored within the three seconds, it does not count and a new face-off must be made.  This rule is in effect even if a referee is making the face-off.

9.       The center is not allowed to score directly off a face-off.  The puck must be played to another player before a goal can count.

Scoring:

1.       The puck must stay in the goal for it to count.

2.       In and outs shots do not count.

3.       Scoring a direct goal by pressing a motionless puck against the goal cage with the right defenseman or goaler does not count.

4.       Scoring a direct goal by pressing the puck against the goaler with either defenseman does not count.

5.       A goal scored by a shot with the body of a player (not the stick) after having stopped the puck does not count.

6.       When a goal is scored as the final buzzer is sounding, it will not be awarded.

Game Interruptions:

If a game is interrupted and significant time is lost from a broken gear, rod or game:

1.       The game will be suspended and resumed on a new table.

2.       If player had indisputable control before the interruption, the game continues with the puck in the place where it was, otherwise a new face-off is made.

Forfeits:

If a competitor is not in front of the board and ready to play by 30 seconds after the beginning of the match, he automatically loses this match by 4-1.

Goal Crease Rule:

If the puck comes to a full rest on the goal line you may call freeze and a new faceoff is made.

You may not intentionally move the puck onto the goal line to call a freeze.

If the puck is in full rest in the crease and is not touching the goal line you must play the puck.

Possession Rule:

1.       Upon possession, a player has only 5 seconds to play, pass or shoot the puck though contested ice.

2.       Possession is defined as a puck that is completely within a players slot zone and is unreachable by any of the opponent’s players.

Tie breakers:

Determines division standings after rounds are:

1.       Points

2.       Wins

3.       Head to Head

4.       (+/-) Goal Differential from that round, goals for vs. goals against

5.       If still tied, a 90 sec period, total goals

6.       If still tied after that, sudden death overtime.

Play-offs:

In the event of a draw at the end of the 5 minutes, the winner is the one who scores the first goal (sudden death), following a face-off made by a referee
