Herman Steen Wins Boston!
(stats and results below write-up)
In one of the most exciting Elites
finals to date, Herman Steen bested Kenny Dubois 4 games to 3, to win the 2007 Boston Challenge Stiga Table Hockey Championships.
To reach the finals, Steen beat fellow Swedish countryman and 2005 Boston champion, Pontus Eriksson. That series also
went the distance, with game 7 going into overtime. Kenny Dubois beat 2003 Boston Challenge winner, Junior Gelinas of
Shawinigan Quebec, 4 games to 1 in the other semifinals.
The B group winner was Matt Rogers of Groveland, MA. He beat
Stephen Klump of Ottawa, ON 3-0. The semi-finalists were Dana Rogers, Matt's father and Gino Bossio of Montreal, QC.
The C group was won by Len Mecca of Cherry Hill, NJ, 3 games to
none, over Vic Handel of New Haven, CT. The semi-finalists were Bill Boyd of Arlington, TX and Kevin Rafferty of
Laguna Hills, CA.
Special thanks go out to Peter Tererri and Kimberly Bowens for their excellent work
entering scores, taking pictures and overall help. Also to Lindsey LaPorte for her help running the timing CD, puck
gathering and other tasks. And to Al Cousineau, my longtime friend, for helping during the loadout.
Thank you to Mike and Kenny for all the help during the event and
thanx to all the players and friend that also helped and stayed with us all day. It was a very special event this
year and it couldn't have happened without the help of so many people. Thank you all again!
